Valentine's Day Party

Third and Fourth Grade so enjoyed their Valentine's Day! In the morning during science class, we conducted the milk and soap experiment. The students poured milk into a plate and added a few drops of food coloring to make the reaction visible. Then they added a drop of dish soap and watched an incredible reaction! The dish soap molecules grabbed onto the fat globules in the milk and worked to break up the fat. With the food coloring added, one can witness the molecules bending, rolling, twisting, and contorting in all directions as the soap molecules join up with the fat molecules. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr6dZ6aWpF4 to see the demonstration and learn how it works.

During Language Arts, we created Valentine's for every student and teacher in the school. It was lots of fun writing secret Valentine's and then delivering them as "Cupids in Disguise" throughout the day. The weather was beautiful so we took part in a school-wide scavenger hunt in the afternoon before our parties began. Then, finally, it was time to begin the party!
 Jack munching on candy.
Cayla and Jayden enjoying their Valentine's treats.
Brayden passing out Valentine's to his classmates.
Emily, Logan, and Claire excitedly reading their Valentine's after waiting all day for this party to begin! Games and fun followed to complete a wonderful day.
