Notes, Reminders, Memory & Spelling: Oct. 29-Nov. 2

Notes:
The children sang beautifully in Sunday's worship service. I was delighted with the number of students who attended and shared their wonderful gifts with our congregation. Parent/Teacher Conferences went very well last week. I'm so pleased with the progress in our classroom. These children are dedicated to their studies! As a reward last week, we enjoyed "Show & Share" time and played restaurant after our math tests. During our restaurant activity, the students learned to order within their budgeted amount, add the dollar amounts on the ticket, make change, and calculate a tip. They practiced good customer service as we have learned in social studies
the service industry must provide, and they treated their servers with the patience, kindness, and respect with which God calls His people to treat others. What fun!

REMINDERS

Mother/Daughter Banquet: Tonight is the Mother/Daughter Banquet at 6:00pm in the gym. Hope to see many of our young ladies there!
Staff v. Lady Tigers Volleyball Game: Our Staff v. Lady Tigers Volleyball Game in next Friday, Oct. 19 at 6:30pm in the gym. Our younger girls will keep score and ref the game while our boys cheer on the girls. It’s a fun event!
Book It! Reading Program: We started Book It! Reading Program the first week of October and will participate in it through the end of March. Each child is encouraged to talk with his/her parents and set an individual goal for him/herself this month. Some of my students chose goals based on the number of minutes read and others by the number of books read. I will leave that decision to each child. Please sign and return the form at the end of the month indicating you have witnessed your child working toward his/her goal. Students who meet or exceed their goals each month will be rewarded with a coupon for one personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Super readers who meet or exceed their goals every month in October – March will be specially recognized at our Awards Banquet in May.
Book Report: Our first book report is due tomorrow. The children have been reading and working toward this deadline in and out of class. They will have the chance to present them to their classmates.
Current Events: This Friday, we will hold our first Current Events discussion. That means each child must choose a news article, write a report about it, and bring both their written report and the news article they selected to share with the class on Friday.
